RP With Malcolm Bright

[dawn_is_breaking]

Dawn knows that the decision for Malcolm to introduce her to his father was not an easy one, when they first started dating he had been very firm in the idea of them never crossing paths which she had accepted without question but as time progressed and they had become more and more serious she thought it was worth asking about again.

Not because she wanted to meet Martin Whitly but because she wanted Malcolm to be able to keep moving forward in their relationship, especially since now they've admitted that they can see having children together in the future. But before that can happen Malcolm needs to know and see that Martin won't be a wedge between them. That he won't drive or scare her away from the man she loves.

But it isn't going to be easy, she can already see how tense Malcolm is and she reaches over to take hold of his hand. Giving it a gentle squeeze as the car Malcolm's mother sent for them slows to a stop outside the prison.

"Hey." She says softly, "I love you."

"Of course. Would you like to head straight home or maybe go somewhere we can take a walk?"

He nods. Walking is a good idea. Malcolm feels like he needs to be in motion, moving away from this place.

"There's a park a few blocks from here."

He takes her hand, squeezing it.

Once outside she inhales deeply, enjoying the fresh air and allowing it to help push away the afternoon's intense experience. She and Malcolm walk silently, hand in hand for a while until she finally breaks the silence.

"Feel a bit better?"

"Yeah."

Thankfully, it's a nice day and the park is relatively quiet. It's a nice break from the dark, cold hospital that they just left.

Malcolm takes a deep breath. "So. How bad was it?"

She gives his hand a little squeeze, "For me? Not that bad actually."

"This might be a weird thing to say but I can see why your father got away with murder for so long, he's not only very charming but he's very good at turning conversation around to benefit him."

Malcolm nods. "He does it all the time. He got away with it for years. He tricked my mother, and you know my mother isn't stupid." Malcolm runs his free hand through his hair. "I can't ever let my guard down with him."

[dawn_is_breaking]

Dawn knows that Jessica isn't stupid although the other woman will probably always think she is because she wasn't aware of her husbands killing, but Dawn has nothing but respect for Malcolm's mother. She's a strong and loving woman.

"Do you regret taking me to see him?" She asks after a moment, glancing at him.

He's quiet for a moment. "I don't know," he finally replies. "You wanted to meet him, and I understand that. You held your own against him... you were great." Malcolm looks up at Dawn, his eyes sparkling blue. "But he doesn't deserve you. He doesn't deserve to know somebody as wonderful as you, especially if he's going to try to use it against you. Against us."

[dawn_is_breaking]

"If he's really as smart as he thinks he is, he should know it's useless to even try." She says and leans in to kiss him softly. "Because it won't work."

She kisses each of his cheeks after, smiling a little. "I love you Malcolm, with all my heart."

"He thinks it will," Malcolm mutters. In his heart, he knows it won't, but he doesn't want Martin to even try. He and Dawn's relationship is great; he doesn't want to invite drama into it.

"I love you too," he replies, resting his forehead against hers after she kisses him.

She stays that way with him for a little while, their foreheads resting against one another's before slowly pulling back.

"You know what you need right now?" She says, lacing her fingers through his. "You need a nice, hot bath. With a glass of whiskey and a beautiful naked woman in that bath to help scrub your back and rub your tight, stressed muscles."
