He feels it speaks for itself, and it also the first meal he reached for when sparing a moment to eat after his capture.] For beverages I lean more towards tea, though I've had coffee in the Dreaming as well. People rarely slumber over their worst meals. It's good fare.

No, not literally. He merely watches. Either he is keeping an eye out for trouble, or he is on assignment and reports to myself, or Lucienne. I have never been privy to his time with you, nor would I demand a recant unless something was amiss. You are not a mission, after all.

I lean towards tea over coffee as well, my mother was a proper British woman and always had tea time every day at 3pm.

It's all right, I don't mind explaining. The person I was thinking of is an ex boyfriend and was our team leader when I was with the Titans. I loved him very much but we argued a lot on how to handle certain things.

I knew her through her connection to the Dreaming, though that is not the same as engaging with someone during their waking hours. Still. I can see the family resemblance between you two.

An unfortunate side effect of leadership only too often. That sort of disengagement from sentiment and the advice of others. Perhaps he will mend his ways eventually before it is too late.

For the most part, were her dreams pleasant? A lot of her waking life was spent married to a horrible man so I guess I just want to know that she wasn't plagued by it in her sleep as well.

I can also be incredibly stubborn so it wouldn't be fair for me to tease you about that. As for emotions so far as I've seen you're decent at them.

She had some lovely dreams, yes. Not all. A fair amount, though. Many involved you and your sister.

Are you the eldest brother?

The second eldest. Destiny came first at the dawn of creation, and then my sister Death to welcome the first living organisms. I followed after, once dreams began. Then came my brother Destruction, the twins Desire and Despair, and finally, our youngest sister Delirium.

Ah I knew you were one of the older siblings for sure, you have a big brother vibe.

I suppose you would know about older sibling energy, being elder to Holly. My youngest sister has accused me of such a time or two.

Indeed I do, I don't know if it's something we are born with or if we just learn it through being the elder sibling but it's there.

I can't say I have an answer to that query. I've always thought myself to be as I always was until recently. Endless and unchanging. Not long ago I would have said it was simply how I came to exist. Now I'm not as sure.

I can see that instinct in you, though. To look after others.

Dreams and nightmares can be quite dangerous if not kept in check. They serve a purpose as I do, and it would be unfair to have them overstep and infringe upon rather than help a dreamer.

Do you believe having grown up in a protective role influenced your later path? Of being a vigilante.

What exactly goes into making a dream or a nightmare? Do you spend a lot of time tweaking them until they are just right?

Yes, I think so. I think between growing up in a protective role as well as seeing some of the flaws in the legal system in regards to abuse and death has made me want to try and help others past those things.

Oh yes, they take time to craft. Dreams and nightmares are built based on the needs of dreamers. As they change, so too must what the Dreaming contain. Which isn't to say that some dreams might not end up in more than one dream - many have delighted in those flying fish, for instance. It's more that some dreams and nightmares get retired and new ones take their place, and ones that have been retired might return or be amended. It's an ever-ongoing process.

I thought as much, though I didn't want to assume. Not that I've experienced a good deal of your world's legal system.
