[Once she's put the pizza in the fridge and Jason has closed the bathroom door she goes into her bedroom to get changed into a pair of dancers tights and bralette, smiling a little to herself when she looks over at her bed. The covers are all rumpled and bunched up from where they were laying and instead of straightening it out she leaves it since Jason is just going to be laying down again in a few minuets.
She heads into the living room and moves the coffee table aside so she can roll out a yoga mat, putting on some soft classical music as she begins to move through her dance stretches.]
[ the shower makes him feel a lot better, and by the time he gets out he's moving a little easier too. he's about to just flop into Dawns bed for a nap, but he hears the soft classical music drifting into the bedroom and he moves to the door to peek out.
he feels a little bit like a creeper, but he just stands there and watches her for a while. it's so calming and peaceful to watch her stretching and breathing. he could never quite get the hang of that when he was training. maybe it would've helped. ]
[Stretching is something Dawn has done since she was about five, you can't do ballet without doing a lot of it and it's always been a good way for her to quiet her mind and emotions. She inhales deeply and brings her one leg up slowly, bringing it higher and higher till she's in a sort of standing split with her knee up by her head and her foot pointed at the ceiling. She exhales and slowly rotates her leg back, dipping her torso downwards into an arabesque before lowering everything back onto the floor. Her moves are slow and controlled, every muscle working together to create beautiful fluid like movements that make it look like she's moving through water.]
[ she's beautiful and graceful, every move calm and controlled. she's probably a good fighter because of that too. and a maybe a better dancer, too.
he watches her a little longer, then feels bad for being secretive about it and heads back into the bedroom, closing the door half way so he can still hear the music in the distance as he lays down to get some rest, falling asleep quickly.
the one good thing about the beating his body too is that he's exhausted enough not to have any dreams or nightmares, but he probably does sleep unreasonably too long for a nap. ]
[Dawn runs through her dance stretches and because she is feeling limber and more light hearted than she has in months she actually allows herself to relax and dance for a bit in the living room. She's a bit rusty in some of the ballet moves but it feels wonderful to use her body for something that isn't fighting and by the time she's done she's sweaty but smiling. She heads down to her bedroom to check on Jason and sees that he's still sleeping, he looks so peaceful and sweet that she's tempted to let him keep sleeping but in the end she sits down next to him and gently runs her hands through his dark curls.]
[ for once, Jason doesn't wake with a start either. he does stir a little though, because he's a light sleeper none the less, but he doesn't fully wake. there's a hand in his hair and it feels gentle and warm, and he smiles just slightly, leaning his head into it. ]
[Between his little smile and the way he moves into her touch, it tugs at her heart and she bites her lower lip and does it again. Running her hand through his hair slowly, enjoying how soft his curls are against her fingers.]
[ again it feels so soft and gentle that he just wants to curl into that feeling as much as he can- and maybe he does a little more, muttering sleepily. ]
[Oh, there's that tug again and because she's not made of stone she smiles and lays down next to him. Letting her fingers play in his hair, following the curls and swirls as she watches him sleep.]
[he lets out a satisfied sound at her reply, and the way the bed dips when she lays down next to him. the comforting feeling doens't stop, so he doesn't open his eyes, but he does shift closer to it, because even in his sleep he knows it's safe.]
[When he moves closer she smiles and lets her hand travel down through his hair to the back of his neck and over his shoulder, gently holding him. Pretty soon five minutes turns into seven, and then into ten but she doesn't wake him. Instead she slowly dozes off as well, her body shifting even closer in her sleep, her warmth seeking his, and pretty soon she has curled herself against him.]
[after that five, seven, ten minutes, it's pretty much right up there with the best sleep Jason's ever had.
he subconsciously curls around Dawn as well, staying close because it feels good and safe. it feels softer than anything has felt in ages. it's much later when he finally stirs again, this time slowly blinking his eyes open as he tries to focus on where he is and... Who he's with? he tenses up hard, ready to pull away when he realizes exactly who it is. oh shit.]
[During their slumber the arm she had wrapped around his shoulder has moved to be around his waist and she's nestled her head onto his chest, so that when he says her name she feels as well as hears it.]
Mmmhmmm. M'right here.
[She says sleepily and hugs herself tighter against him.]
[ she's definitely wrapped around him... and he realizes he's wrapped around her just as much. he has no idea at what point in the night this happened. or wait... he laid down for a nap.
and then he vaguely remembers fingers carding through his hair, Dawn saying his name. five more minutes. she must've climbed into bed with him at that point and fallen asleep and now they're tangled up in each other, in her bed, as if they've done this a thousand times before.
Jason tries to stay calm, tries to keep his heart steady inside his chest. his chest that Dawn's head is laying against, her beautiful hair splayed out over her shoulder. she feels nice. she feels so very nice, and Jason closes his eyes again, taking a deep breath. when she wakes up fully he knows she'll move away. hell, she'll probably want to get as far away from him as she can once she realizes how they fell asleep together. it's not right for him to be awake and enjoying this when she doesn't know what's going on. so he opens his eyes, giving her a little shake to wake her up more fully. ]
[As he lays there, trying to calm himself down, Dawn wakes up fully. She registers that she's cuddled herself up against him and that he's done the same and for a moment she lets herself enjoy having someone's arms around her. He's warm and comfortable and somewhere in the back of her mind she notices that he's slimmer than Dick or Hank were but that's kind of nice, she's not a very large person and their bodies fit together nicely.
She can hear his heartbeat, which is a little fast, and then he gives her a little shake and says her name and she can hear a bit of worry in his tone.]
Jason.
[She says, not raising her head, but she's already smiling.]
You make a pretty comfortable pillow. Did you know that?
[ so maybe his heartbeat ticks up a bit more when he can tell that she's finally waking up- but she doesn't move. she stays there like that for a little longer, and then a little longer after that.
when she says his name, her tone is even, calm- is she smiling? he can't fully tell, not until she starts talking to him a bit more, and then he lets out a breath before he can stop himself. ]
[he realizes he still has his arms fully around her and he loosens his hold a little, looking down at her. she's smiling, and he tries to relax a little. he tells himself he isn't going to make a bigger deal out of this than it needs to be, if she's not reacting to it in that way.]
[ he's quiet, lowering his gaze, looking down between them. there's still a sort of panic that vibrates under his skin, but he's trying not to let it get the best of him. she's not moving or escaping, and neither is he. maybe he doesn't have to. ]
You are too.
[he says quietly. cozy and warm. she is, very much cozy and warm, and slowly he starts to let himself relax again, his heartbeat evening out.]
[She can feel his heartbeat starting to slow because she can feel it pulsing against her skin, it's comforting in its steady rhythm and she smiles and lowers her head back down onto his chest.]
Of course not, because I would have taken you with me.
[She teases and smiles to herself.]
I guess your little nap turned into my nap which turned into a full sleep. How are you feeling?
Oh yeah? You would've dragged me down to the floor on top of you?
[he doesn't mean it the way it sounds, he swears, and he closes his eyes, inwardly cursing at himself. it's almost as if he can't help but make this as awkward as possible, even if he's trying hard not to let it be.]
I'm feeling... good. I slept pretty well.
[he might as well be honest about that part, at least. and this part- this part feels good too, with her head back against her chest, not wanting to move away. it's surprising. it's unnerving. but it feels good. he hopes it's okay to say this. ]
[She knows he doesn't mean for it to sound sexual but it does and when she hears him swear under his breath she giggles and nods.]
Yup. In a big tangle of blankets, limbs and hair.
[Her heart skips a beat and she tries not to read too much into his comment about sleeping well but it's hard when this feels so nice and comforting for the both of them.]
Same. Guess we should have sleepovers more often.
[Which could be an open invitation for this to happen again, if he wants.]
[ at least she laughs at his awkwardness. he feels like such an idiot, but hey, it made her giggle, and it's such a sweet sound. it's hard to feel like shit after that. ]
Our hair tangled together, huh? That would be something.
[okay, so this is... a thing. they're still laying here together, arms around each other like this is normal. like this is okay. and then when she says that, like an open invitation for more of this, he realizes this isn't a fluke. she doesn't feel like this is a mistake.
she doesn't despise the thought of being close to him, and he knows it's his own insurmountable gilt that's keeping a distance between them, but... if she feels comforted by this and she's okay with it, maybe it can just be... okay.
now that he's gotten some sleep, he feels a little more level headed about it all. he still doesn't think he can forgive himself for any of it, not ever. but they're here now. ]
If it got tangled I don't know if either of us would ever be able to get free of it....
[She muses, smiling at the idea of her and Jason's hair weaving together into some sort of mass form. One that was opposites but the same, dark and light, male and female, short and long.]
Like this....
[She says, feeling her heart rate pick up another notch before she speaks again.]
